The phrase “with liberty and justice for all,” in the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance represents the idea that everyone should have access to justice, not just those who can afford legal representation. Many low-income Americans, “go it alone” without legal representation in disputes where they risk losing their job, their livelihood, their home, their children, or are seeking a restraining order against a violent abuser. East River Legal Services is committed to being the leader in providing dependable, high-quality, meaningful legal assistance focused on transforming the lives of impoverished and mistreated individuals in eastern South Dakota.
